教育は動くー広島にグローバル基準公立校誕生
グローバリゼイションとは社会的・ 経済的に国や地域を越えて世界規模で結びつきが深まり、人々を今まで以上に密接なつながりをもたらせます。それ故、今、新時代に合う日本の新しい「学校づくり」の計画が続々と立ち上がっているのです。教師指導型から生徒主導の学習やテーマ別の学習法に向けて動きが出ています。その一環として来年2019年4月に開校予定の広島の公立中高一貫校「The Hiroshima Global Academy」を拝見してみましょう。新しいカリキュラムの目玉は、生徒それぞれが自分のプロジェクトを持って研究を進めていくということで生徒が主役としてチャレンジし、教師は促進者となります。その他大きな二つの特徴は全寮制、段階的英語授業（高校からは完全に英語のみ）となっています。これは、「Ｐ２１フレームワーク」と呼ばれるアメリカやヨーロッパで一斉に取り入れられているグローバルな新しい教育指導法です。その同一基準でこの学校でも指導運営されます。この新教育制度が広島で根を張るには数年かかりますが、少なくとも著名な私立・公立進学校にはよい刺激になるのではないでしょうか。
Globalization is an ongoing phenomenon linking people, cities, and countries much more closely together than before. That’s why reshaping the educational system in Japan is vital. Official instructions have been changing towards competency-based learning and project-based learning. Let’s take a look at one of the most innovative schools, “The Hiroshima Global Academy” an international public school, which is set to open in 2019. The new curriculum will focus on “project-based learning” which encourages the students to solve real-life problems in their community. This new method gives more autonomy to students who become agents of their own learning. In addition, all the students are required to live in school dormitories and communicate in English, depending on their grades at school. This method is aligned with the P21 framework that has been used in the U.S. and abroad to put 21st century skills at the center of learning. It may take a few years to see whether or not it will take root in the Japanese education system. However, this school sets an example for competent private and public schools.
